Heritage Festival in Logan County

Russellville KY is a city in Logan County Kentucky that has a number of attractions available for those who live there and those who visit but among the most popular in the Tobacco and Heritage Festival in Russellville. The Tobacco and Heritage Festival is the biggest event held in the city in fact and Logan County KY is proud to sponsor it every year in order to bring camaraderie and enjoyment to the people of Logan County. The four major cities in Logan County including Russellville, Auburn, Lewisburg and Adairville in addition to many other communities in Kentucky come together to participate in this event and plan the festival. The event is even sponsored by the Logan Chamber of Commerce. The Festival began in the year 1941 and in this time it was only a 1 day event that was held during the Christmas shopping season but since then it has grown to be an enormous 3 day event. The second annual Tobacco and Heritage Festival was held in the following year but was put on hold because of the start of WWII because this war presented the need for materials and all available hands for the war effort, but in 1957 the festival got back on track and has been going strong every since.

When the festival started back up in Russellville KY in 1957 the now 3 day program incorporated many events than the original festival in 1941. It now featured a selection of a queen as well as floats and various contests. There are even dances to go to during the event in addition to the host of prizes that are given out annually. The expansion of the Tobacco and Heritage Festival has been very consistent and it is growing every year. The festival now covers a period of 2 weeks in today's times with all of the events that have been added to it and the climax of the festival is the parade. If you want to go to this gathering it usually happens on the 2nd week of October every year.
