Benjamin Logan was born in 1742 and he became a soldier, pioneer, and politician in Kentucky. Moreover, he had lived in the Shelby County most of his life and there was also where he practiced politics. He was however born in Virginia and he had moved to Kentucky in 1745. He became a leader in the efforts of making Kentucky a state by being the colonel of the Kentucky County militia of Virginia during the American Revolutionary War and thus by being the second in command of the militia in his own state to be, Kentucky. In 1776 he had become sheriff and justice of the peace and he had become a colonel of the Kentucky militia.

Once the revolution ended, Benjamin Logan turned his attention to politics and between 1781 and 1787 he had serves as the local representative in the Virginia House of Delegates. From there he attempted to make a case for Kentucky's statehood. In 1786 he had also led a force of Federal soldiers and he led the militia against several towns o the Shawnee Indians in Ohio. His forces occupied most of the Indian territory and they had captured and murdered significant numbers of Indians and their leaders. Nevertheless, Benjamin Logan was one of the individuals to call for the Danville Convention as well as one of the delegates participating in the writing of the Kentucky constitution in 1991 and 1792.
